With the help of Baseball-Reference, I was able to identify 862 Red Sox road games since 1954 in which Boston came to bat in the 9th inning while trailing by 4+ runs before Wednesday’s contest in Baltimore. And until Wednesday, the Red Sox had lost all 862 of them.
